Tooth decay can be caused by internal factors relating to a persons health, or external influences such as smoking or a mixture of both.
Tooth decay is the result of bacteria accumulating around the teeth and gums causing the the teeth to literally rot. The build-up of bacteria may be due to some of the following:
At the Healthy Smile Centre we not only address and thoroughly assess your dental and medical histories but also diet history, saliva testing and jaw function. We are serious in our roles as health practitioners taking a holistic approach to our work. We we work closely with a dedicated team of dental, medical and allied health practitioners such as nutritionists when needed.
Gum disease is one of the most prevalent diseases yet it is the most easily preventable. Gum disease results when there is too much bacteria affecting the gums to the point where the body can not defend itself.
Early stage gum disease may only present itself as swollen or bleeding gums, which by this time, the bacteria have started causing negative effects on the gums.
Late stage gum disease usually displays itself with moving and/ or drifting teeth and bad breath (halitosis). By this stage, severe irreversible damage has been caused to the bones which support the teeth.
Gum disease can be easily prevented by attending regular routine hygiene visits at least every six months.
In conjunction with all hygiene and gum treatment visits, we utilise laser and ozone technologies when needed to facilitate predictable results and faster healing.
If you notice any of these symptoms, contact Healthy Smile Centre immediately before it is too late.
